Review Celcom FIRST Basic 38 - After 14 days

So now as I have been using or porting my number from Maxis to Celcom of the new limited time offer which is FIRST Basic 38. I will do some review of my usage during the first fortnight using the service.
Check out at their website here to see this plan.

#1
To track my usage I just use Data Usage from Settings in my Samsung phone. I could track how much did I use for what type of application as image on the right side.
#2 Other option is to use Celcom service via message.
Simply type 'BAL STATUS' (all capital letters) and send to 28882. Example can be seen on left side.
I have been told by their customer service that this service is free of charge.

So from 3GB of data I only use of not more than 0.2GB (200mb) which is very surprisingly little. I mean I have lots of remaining unused data. Feeling wasted? Not anymore. With this plan you can carry as much as 3GB of unused data to next bill cycle (next month).

I dont call and message so much these days because I rely more on Whatsapp and WeChat. So 50 minutes and 50 messages would suffice me on average I guess.

You will be charged subsequent usage after the allocation fully utilised. 15sen/min to all networks and 15sen/sms or mms to all networks.

#3 Below is checking through their website Online Customer Service (OCS) but first you need to register to the service. Clich here to register or in case you need some guide.

Through OCS the data usage is little bit more detail than message service (2 decimal places against 1). As you can see the data is valid until 7 Aug 2015 (because my billing cycle is every 8th of month). Different customer have different cycle. I think it takes from your first activation. My activation message came on 8th of July but I only start using the service several days after due to some technical issues.

As they say "valid until", the remaining will be considered as unused data and you can carry maximum 3GB of data from previous months if you have.

My point
By using more than one medium to check data usage, I could compare and estimate more precisely.

What's next?
I will do review when I receive my first billing. I guess it will be available on my billing cycle date 7th or 8th of August. We'll see soon.

Celcom will notify me through email when it is available. Yes my billing will be online like many of us did nowadays. While it is free of charge, of course, other benefits include clutter free, paperless plus saves time and money. You can print it out if you like to. You can check anywhere and whenever you have internet connection.

If using postage, you will be charged in your bill for RM2 or if you choose to receive detailed information, it would be RM5.
It's just the same charge by Maxis. Summaries billing is RM2 while itemised (detailed) is RM5.

Register Celcom Online Customer Service

This is a simple user guide if you want to register on Celcom Online Customer Service. Only Celcom customers can sign up for this service (postpaid, prepaid and broadband).

The first step is of course, surf on their webpage www.celcom.com.my.

Very simple. Click Online Customer Service at right hand top of webpage and this is what you get. Log in for existing customer or sign up now for the first time.

For easy to remember in the future, you can even put your username as your phone number and check availability. ID number is your IC number if you choose NEW NRIC in the ID Type section while service number is your phone number.

As you can see in the picture above, my username and service number is the same because they are my phone number. No need to add +60 or any '-' dash symbol. All are just numbers.

Click Register

Celcom will send you a verification message to the number you put in Service Number section. They will give you a temporary password which are case sensitive (means that you should match the upper/lower case) during log in.

I am not sure when but they will ask for your email (and you will need to verify later via email). This email will act as notification medium from Celcom like when your bill cycle is renewed monthly.

Change of password can be made right after your first time log in which Celcom will directly ask it for your convenience.

FAQ
If you require more detail please check on their FAQs here.

How to contact Celcom

There are several options to contact to Celcom if you are not able to go to their branch, Blue Cube outlet or any of their dealers, which you can find guides easily from their website.

Click Contact Us at the right hand top of their website. You'll get FAQs, Contact Us Form and Call Us information.

Review

  • FAQs answer all your basic questions.
  • Contact Us Form is not the best option. It's a traditional and time consuming option, plus you need to fill in some form as what the name is.
  • As right now I am a Celcom customer (porting from Maxis), I always find it most conveniently to answer my queries through 1111 because its free no matter how long the duration and it's 24/7. Even when I was with Maxis, I used to call 1111 from my Mom's number for anything related with Celcom. One downside is during less active time such as after midnight and public holiday, you might experience a much slower answered calling (might due to limited number of staff working).

Take notes
The only thing you should consider currently is that telcos in Malaysia have started to asking for verification of caller identity. Some like Maxis will ask to talk to the Named-of-the-account for that particular number if you request a detailed information like billing details. For example my Maxis number was under my Father's name. So every confidential details will not be exposed unless they can talk for a while with my father for verification. It's a bit a pain in the a** but that's for the sake of security. So you don't want to stuck to the situation even worse when the owner is not around. But nothing much can be done for those under 18 where they should be named under their parents or guardian.

Online Customer Service
This is another option you have but only for Celcom customers. Questions about this service can be found in the FAQ Online Customer Service. Right now they work 9am-9pm everyday except for Saturday which they are off.
If you need guide on registering Online Customer Service.

Celcom Easy Menu button
They call this as Quick Guide.
*111#
*118#
*119#
I think you might mostly need 118 option than the other two. Check it out yourself.

Hai korang selamat berpuasa kepada yg muslim ;)

Pagi2 ni nk share sikit ngan korang 2 bintang Ceria Popstar 2 (2014) iaitu Masya (Juara) dan Iqbal (Naib Juara).

Masya
Suara diorang nih pehh mmg boleh layan lagi2 si Masya nih. Korang usha2 la sikit persembahan kemuncak Si Masya. Mmg jelas lah persembahan dia melebihi peserta2 lain.

Iqbal
Iqbal, mmg no 2 lah dari segi nyanyian. Boleh check persembahan2 dia sepanjang Ceria Popstar 2, semua nya sedap2 belaka lah. Cume saya sedar dia slack (bukan sikit tapi banyak) pada konsert Kemuncak nak dibandingkan dengan persembahan2 terdahulu.

Jomego
Peserta duo nih (tempat ketiga), masih tak sampai pada tahap memuaskan saya lah walaupun diorang geti rap. Lontaran suara diorang masih kurang umphh lagi. Diorang pon ade lagu single sendiri bertajuk Kau Boleh Buat tapi saya tak share kat sini. Korang boleh check sendiri kat Youtube.
